Fearless audiences flocked the screenings of HOFF
The 3rd Haapsalu Horror and Fantasy Film Festival that ended on 30 March with Spanish ghost story "The Orphanage" screened 18 features to the highest number of audience in the festival history - 2337 viewers.
The fright fest that took place in Haapsalu Cultural Centre treated the audience with highlights of recent horror and fantasy films, a retrospective of films by legendary Brian Yuzna, classic sci-fi film "Test Pilota Pirxa", new Spanish horror films and a programme of extreme horror.
Successful film fest was supported by various special events including Boxwars and a club night with DJs from Plektrum festival. In addition HOFF witnessed the visit of several renowned international guests.
Director Marek Piestrak from Poland was present at the 30th anniversary screening of his film "Test Pilota Pirxa" together with the Estonian members of the cast and crew. This classic sci-fi fiction was also the most popular film of the festival and deservedly got the biggest applause.
Another special guest of the festival flew to Haapsalu straight from the location shoot of his new film in Indonesia. Brian Yuzna, director-producer of numerous cult classics praised the programme of HOFF, hordes of audience and unique sea mud that could make an interesting subject for a horror or fantasy film.
The festival was organised by Haapsalu Municipal Government, Haapsalu Cultural Centre and Black Nights Film Festival.
The next Haapsalu Horror and Fantasy Film Festival takes place in April 2009.
