Baghead
Baghead Director: Mark Duplass, Jay Duplass

While the indie darlings the Duplass Brothers were shooting their last feature film "The Puffy Chair", a crew member raised the question "what's the scariest thing you can think of?" Someone immediately said "a guy with a bag on his head staring into your window." Thus, BAGHEAD was born, an attempt to take the absurdly low-concept idea of a "guy with a bag on his head" and make a funny, truthful, endearing film that was scary too.

In the tradition of low-budget scare fest "The Blairwitch Project", an unknown cast of young actors stars as themselves, Hollywood bottom feeders who are desperate for work. Four struggling actors retreat to a cabin in the woods of Big Bear, California in order to write a screenplay that will make them all stars. Problem is: What happens when their story idea - a horror flick about a group of friends tormented by a villain with a bag over his head - starts to come true?

The cast is made up of real actors playing versions of themselves: a handsome and athletic team leader, a blond bombshell with a dry wit, an overweight self-loathing slacker and an aging ingénue, all covering their desperation with cynical bravado. Working without a script and relying on improvisation, the film has a loveable looseness that makes the intrusion of true horror rather shocking. As BAGHEAD moves from an embarrassing sexual comedy to a possible slasher flick, the director brothers present a film that mixes laughs with screams with great skill and panache.
