Marcin Wasilewski Trio
In cooperation with Jazzkaar festival
29 November at 16:00
Polish jazztrio (that also performs in the opening ceremony of the festival) is rated by the critics as one of the best in the world at the moment. Marcin Wasilewski Trio is still a young group but nevertheless has a long history and their last album “January” strikes with an extraordinarily wide-scale playlist which is performed with self-confidence, the feeling of purpose and extreme concentration. The other two members of the Trio in addition to pianist Marcin Wasilewski are Slawomir Kurkiewicz on the contrabass and Michal Miskiewicz on the drums. The reason why the concert is included in the festival programme is that film and Polish jazz have always supported each other – it is also the case with Marcin Wasilewski Trio. Wasilewski’s tune “The Young and Cinema” refers to the Polish film festival carrying the same name held in Koszalin; furthermore – the Trio also plays a cover of the theme melody of Giuseppe Tornatore 1988 film “Cinema Paradiso”. With this concert the festival would like to show its gratitude to the Polish Embassy and to the Polish oil company
PKN Orlen which from this year on is the presenter of the festival.
